Ingredients:
Elderflower: This herb can generate heat in the body and thus stimulates the metabolism and fat burning. Elderflower teas are also said to loosen mucus from bronchi and sinuses. An anti-inflammatory effect is ascribed to elderflower as well as analgesic (pain reducing) effects. The tea helps especially when a cold is starting and relieves its symptoms.
Linden flowers: The flowers of the summer and winter linden have been used in naturopathy for many centuries. And for good reason: the essential oils, tannins and flavonoids in particular contribute to the health-promoting effects of the linden blossom. The herb has expectorant (loosening phlegm) and soothing effects, which is why linden blossom tea is often drunk for colds and sore throats. In addition, the linden blossom tea has a sweat-inducing effect. The linden blossom tea is said to have a calming effect and is therefore a suitable drink before bedtime.
Thyme: Thyme has been used as a herb and medicinal plant for more than 4,000 years. Its medicinal properties are particularly effective against inflammation of the airways such as colds and coughs. In Roman times, Thyme was considered the power herb of the legionaries: it is said that they have taken a thyme bath to strengthen their mental and physical performance in the run-up to a battle. The Greek name “thymos”, which means “strength” or “courage”, also indicates the belief in the power-giving abilities of the medicinal plant.
One of the most important active ingredients in thyme is its essential oil, thyme oil. It contains the substances thymol, carvacrol, geraniol and linalool. The herbal remedies also contain tannins, bitter substances, flavonoids and coumarins. The herb loosens thick mucus in the bronchi and makes coughing easier. The symptoms of respiratory diseases – such as bronchitis or asthma – are alleviated and subside more quickly. Even stubborn runny nose, such as a cold, sinus infection or hay fever, should be able to be solved with thyme.
The medicinal plant can also be used for inflammations in the mouth such as gum and oral mucosal inflammation – here as an extract in the form of a diluted tincture or an infusion for gargling or rinsing the mouth. Because of its antibacterial and antiviral properties, thyme is a great alternative to chemical cold and flu medications.
Fennel: The sweet and bitter fennel are used as a well-known, traditional remedy for mild spasmodic (cramping) gastrointestinal (digestive) complaints, flatulence (wind) and inflammation of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract. The essential oil, especially the substances trans-anethole and fenchone, loosen tough mucus from the bronchi and at the same time promote its removal from the airways. Fennel can therefore relieve cold symptoms such as coughs and runny nose.
Chamomile: The real chamomile (Chamomilla recutita / Matricaria recutita) can alleviate many ailments – from stomach ache, to inflammation of the gums and respiratory tract to sore throats. It is applied externally and internally. The herb contains essential oil, which among other things consists of the substances a-bisabolol and matricin. There are also flavonoids, for example the substances apigenin and quercetin, as well as coumarins.
Chamomile should not be used if you are allergic to a composite family.
Orange flowers: The preparations made from orange blossom are said to have calming and relaxing properties and are used against nervousness, agitation and sleep disorders. Because of their mild and aromatic taste they round any tea blend up.
