How the time in our mother’s womb is connected…

In my practice, I have seen several times how the mother-child (even if the child is already a 40-year old adult) connection can be impacted by the mother experiencing trauma during her pregnancy. Imagine, this fragile little being grew in a body that is filled with anxiety and fear because the mother was not feeling safe, perhaps because she had to hide her pregnancy or she experienced violence.

Entrepreneur Series 1: Worklife Balance

Contrary to the common perception of having a flexible and easy-going lifestyle, entrepreneurs are often ultra hard-working. There is no paid annual or sick leave, often no weekend, an ever-growing to-do list, one important task comes after another…

“After this project I will rest” turns into “I will rest next week”… and before you know it, 6 months have gone by. You sleep less, you eat less healthy, you are tired and close to a burnout. The pressure is still the same, but you feel less energetic.

The Silent Pain of Pregnancy Loss

Pregnancy loss until today remains largely a taboo. We swipe this unpleasant part in our life under the rug, hoping that the woman’s body and mind will recover on their own… which often doesn’t happen. She might develop “unexplainable” pain, depression or struggle with fertility even years later. Here some suggestions about what you can do if you miscarried yourself and you still need closure about this important life event, as well as ideas on how you can support a loved one who is currently going through it.

How trauma in a woman’s uterus can impact her…

Unresolved trauma in the uterus can be a major, yet often overlooked aspect in a woman’s life, and may show as physical discomfort or emotional pain. My experience as a naturopath specialized in trauma, women’s and reproductive health, trauma-aware bodyworker, and birth doula (in training) has often shown me that a combination of the following may be present: somatized trauma (meaning emotional trauma that is stored in the physical body) which may show as digestive and gynecological problems, infertility, feeling numb or unexplained nerve pain, exposure to chronic stress and lack of nourishing resources, unhealthy sexual relationships, anxiety, generally not feeling worthy or good as a woman.

How essential oils can positively impact our wellbeing

Essential oils are known to have a positive impact on our emotional and physical well-being. In order to benefit from the oils in a safe manner, it is crucial to know how to use them correctly. In my practice, I regularly see damages on the skin as the oils are either applied undiluted on the skin, in the wrong dose (usually not diluted enough) or the wrong oils are applied on an already damaged skin.

Has the confinement left an unhealthy mark on me…

Everyone deals with extreme stress in a different way. There is no right or wrong. During the “circuit breaker” period I have seen that those people who have a steady job/cashflow or could move in with family members to save costs tend to enjoy the confinement more than the average person. Same goes for business owners or freelancers who managed to fully jump on their online business and took that to the next level. Well done!  Read more “Has the confinement left an unhealthy mark on me or a loved one?”

A Woman’s Emotional Roots

Have you ever wondered what made you the person you are today or what influence your family’s story had on your life story? Our view on the world as grown-ups is not just defined by what we experienced as children or young adults, but also what happened before we were even born.

It matters what happened to our mothers while they were pregnant with us, how they perceived their pregnancy, and what emotions they felt. If a traumatised body experiences the sensation of feeling calm and safe, the body can find again its balance and deep healing can occur.
